Meet Roxy
Roxy is an Austin-based artist and experienced youth instructor who brings creativity, structure, and encouragement to every camp day.
Originally from Houston, Roxy moved to Austin to study Studio Art at the University of Texas. Since graduating, she has worked in theatre set production, prop making, and rotoscope animation, giving her experience across a wide range of creative mediums. Her favorite materials include acrylics, watercolor, and oil paints, and she especially enjoys painting portraits that capture personality and expression.
In addition to her work as an artist, Roxy has extensive experience working with children. She has taught gymnastics to kids ages 4–12 and has helped lead youth camps, where she developed a strong ability to guide groups, keep kids engaged, and support different learning styles. She understands how to balance creativity with structure so campers feel confident, capable, and excited to try new things.
Roxy is well loved within the Aurora House community for her patient, supportive teaching style and her ability to accommodate different learning styles, including neurodivergent learners. She creates an environment where kids feel safe to express themselves, take creative risks, and move at their own pace.
Roxy believes art is a powerful way for kids to communicate what they see, feel, and imagine. She encourages campers to focus on the process of creating, building patience, confidence, and pride in what they make along the way.
